The Preamble of United States Constitution

It is time to dig deeper into the United States Constitution. We briefly discussed why it is the strongest, oldest, and most brilliant US document HERE. Now let us dissect the document to better understand what makes it so special.

There are three parts to the Constitution: “The Preamble”, “The Articles”, and “The Amendments”.  Each part is unique and has been written for a specific purpose. Today, we will look at “The Preamble” and go through the next two parts another time.

The Preamble is a powerful introduction that explains the reason and purpose for the Constitution. It declares the importance of “We the People” and the rights expressed in the Declaration of Independence. According to the Constitutioncenter.org, “The Preamble” is 52 words long and explains who is adopting the Constitution, why it is being adopted, and what is being adopted. Read HERE for the answers.

Our Founding Fathers wrote the Preamble so it reflects the words of the Declaration of Independence, in order to build a society with a foundation that clearly organized its power so that freedom and order could live on for future generations. Take time now to read “The Preamble” HERE  and watch an excellent video that explains “The Preamble”: HERE. Make sure you stay tuned for the next two parts of the Constitution.
